UN Security Council Renews UNIFIL Mandate for Another Year

The United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to extend the mandate of UNIFIL — the UN Interim Force in Lebanon — for an additional twelve months.

The resolution, introduced by France and Italy, maintains the force at its current strength of approximately 10,000 troops and reaffirms its role in supporting the Lebanese Army.

Lebanon's Foreign Minister welcomed the vote, calling it a reaffirmation of the international community's commitment to stability in the country.
