أكد قائد الجيش رودولف هيكل خلال اجتماع استثنائي مع رئيس لجنة الإشراف على اتفاق وقف الأعمال العدائية «الميكانيزم» جوزاف كليرفيلد، على أهمية دعم القوات المسلحة اللبنانية في المرحلة الحالية.
وقد بحث هيكل، في الاجتماع الذي عُقد نتيجة زيارة سريعة قام بها كليرفيلد إلى قاعدة بيروت الجوية، «الوضع الأمني في لبنان والتطورات على صعيد المنطقة وسبل الاستفادة القصوى من الميكانيزم وتطوير عملها».
كما تم التأكيد على «أهمية دور الجيش وضرورة دعمه في ظل المرحلة الحالية»، وقد غادر كليرفيلد الأراضي اللبنانية بعد الاجتماع.
وفي الأثناء، واصل العدو الإسرائيلي عدوانه على الجنوب اللبناني، حيث شنّ سلسلة غارات على عدد من البلدات، منها زبدين وكفرا ودير الزهراني والدوير، وقد أسفرت عن استشهاد عشرات المدنيين.
بدورها، أعلنت وزارة الصحة ارتفاع حصيلة العدوان الإسرائيلي على لبنان منذ الثاني من آذار الفائت إلى 2659 شهيداً و8183 جريحاً.
Army Commander Rodolphe Haykal, during an exceptional meeting with the head of the ceasefire monitoring committee (“mechanism”) Joseph Clirfield, stressed the importance of supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces at this stage.
The meeting, held following a brief visit by Clirfield to Beirut Air Base, discussed the security situation in Lebanon, regional developments, and ways to maximize the mechanism’s effectiveness and improve its work.
It was also emphasized that the army’s role is vital and must be supported under current circumstances. Clirfield left Lebanon after the meeting.
Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon continued, targeting towns including Zebdine, Kfara, Deir al-Zahrani, and Doueir, resulting in dozens of civilian casualties.
The Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2 has risen to 2,659 killed and 8,183 injured.
