حذّر رئيس الحكومة نواف سلام من تصاعد المخاطر المرتبطة بالتطورات الميدانية جنوب نهر الليطاني، في ظل استمرار الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية، كاشفًا عن مؤشرات خطيرة توحي بمحاولات عزل المنطقة وفرض واقع جديد، بالتوازي مع تفاقم أزمة النزوح وتداعياتها على مختلف المستويات.
وجاءت مواقف سلام في تصريح نقله وزير الإعلام بول مرقص عقب جلسة مجلس الوزراء، التي خُصصت لبحث انعكاسات الحرب، لا سيما في ما يتعلق بالأوضاع الإيوائية والإغاثية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية والمالية، إلى جانب الشق العسكري الذي أكد أنه يحظى بالأولوية.
وفي هذا السياق، أشار سلام إلى تهديدات متكررة صادرة عن وزير الدفاع الإسرائيلي بشأن نية احتلال المنطقة الواقعة جنوب الليطاني، لافتًا إلى أن إسرائيل أقدمت على تفجير معظم الجسور في تلك المنطقة في مسعى لعزلها عن باقي الأراضي اللبنانية، بالتوازي مع عمليات تهجير جماعي واستمرار تدمير المنازل وتجريف الأراضي، في ما يعكس توجهاً يمنع عودة السكان في المدى القريب.
وختم سلام بالإعلان عن إجراءات أمنية جديدة لتعزيز الاستقرار في بيروت، تشمل تكثيف انتشار الجيش وقوى الأمن الداخلي، بهدف طمأنة المواطنين وتعزيز الشعور بالأمان.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned of escalating risks linked to developments south of the Litani River amid ongoing Israeli attacks, revealing dangerous indicators suggesting attempts to isolate the area and impose a new reality, alongside a worsening displacement crisis and its repercussions.
His remarks were conveyed by Information Minister Paul Morcos following a Cabinet session dedicated to discussing the war’s impact, particularly regarding shelter, relief, social, economic, and financial conditions, in addition to the military aspect, which he said remains the priority.
Salam pointed to repeated threats by the Israeli Defense Minister regarding intentions to occupy the area south of the Litani, noting that Israel has blown up most of the bridges in the region in an effort to isolate it from the rest of Lebanon, alongside mass displacement, continued destruction of homes, and land bulldozing—reflecting a direction aimed at preventing residents from returning in the near future.
He concluded by announcing new security measures to enhance stability in Beirut, including increased deployment of the army and Internal Security Forces to reassure citizens and strengthen the sense of safety
